Reds Run Line Has Value as Toronto Limps Into Late September

The Reds just smacked the Blue Jays 5-1 yesterday, and now DarkHorse is riding the momentum with Reds +1.5 at moderate confidence. Toronto's supposed home-field advantage? Not showing up. The Jays are 1-4 in their last five and stumbling at 3-7 over ten, while Cincinnati has found some late-season offensive pop at 4.6 runs per game in their last five compared to Toronto's anemic 2.8.

Here's the kicker: the market has the Blue Jays at -180 on the moneyline, but the pitching matchup doesn't justify laying the run and a half. Max Scherzer's 6.14 ERA is borderline batting practice at this stage of his career, and while Brandon Williamson's 4.89 ERA isn't Cy Young material, it's a full run-plus better. Yes, Toronto's season-long staff ERA (3.91) beats Cincinnati's (4.83), but that gap hasn't translated into dominance this week.

The Reds already proved they can hang yesterday, and getting them at +1.5 gives you natural coverage in what's shaping up as a coin-flip game. Toronto's bats are cold, their pitching is shaky, and the underdog run line is the sharper side. Take the cushion and let Cincinnati keep this one close—or steal another outright win.
