Twenty-four hours after a 12-9 barn-burner, these two square off again with Cleveland riding the kind of momentum that makes September baseball dangerous for fade artists. The Guardians just improved to 11-4 in their last 15 and 8-2 in their last 10—the kind of run that separates contenders from pretenders down the stretch.

Tonight's pitching matchup tilts Kansas City's way on paper. Michael Wacha brings a tidy 3.33 ERA and 1.11 WHIP to the bump, significantly better than Tanner Bibee's 4.35/1.22 line. In a vacuum, that's worth respect. But baseball isn't played in a vacuum, and Cleveland's season-long staff ERA of 3.73 dwarfs Kansas City's 4.73 mark—a gap that matters when bullpens enter the fray in late innings.

The Guardians have also been road warriors lately, posting a 6-3 split away from Progressive Field. They just hung a dozen on the Royals yesterday and showed no signs of cooling off. At -135, the market is pricing Cleveland around 57.4% to win, but given their form, pitching depth, and ability to punish mistake pitches, their true edge feels closer to 60-plus percent.

The Play: Guardians -135. Wacha's solid, but Cleveland's rolling too hard to fade right now.
