Dodgers Limp Into Miami for Rubber Match After Friday Stumble

The Dodgers rolled into Miami winners of eight of their last ten, but Friday's 4-3 loss exposed the cracks in this road-weary squad. Seven games in seven days will do that, especially when your bullpen is running on fumes and Shohei Ohtani is watching from the clubhouse. Now they hand the ball to Sheehan (5.08 ERA) against a Marlins team that just saw them up close and lived to tell about it.

Miami counters with Pérez, who's been more than respectable at 3.94 on the season—a full run-plus better than what LA is trotting out there. That's not nothing when you're trying to lay a run and a half on the road. The Dodgers' recent tear looks impressive until you realize they've been grinding through a schedule that would make a triple-A bus driver wince, and the bullpen depth chart is starting to look like a MASH unit roster.

DarkHorse likes the Marlins +1.5 at moderate confidence here, and it's hard to argue. Home field, fresher arms, the better starter on paper, and they just proved Friday they can hang. LA might still find a way to scratch across a win, but asking them to boat-race a Miami side that has all the situational edges? That's a bridge too far.
