Astros Bats Pummel Yankees in 9-7 Slugfest, DarkHorse Pick Crumbles

MLB

The Astros rolled into Yankee Stadium and delivered a 9-7 beatdown that made our Yankees -145 pick look foolish from the opening pitch. So much for that "decisive starting pitching advantage" — both Will Warren and Ethan Pecko got shelled like it was batting practice, rendering the ERA analysis completely irrelevant. When you're counting on a 0.48 ERA edge to carry the day and both guys give up runs in bunches, you're toast.

Houston's bats woke up at exactly the wrong time for us, piling up nine runs despite their recent offensive struggles. The Yankees clawed back with seven of their own, but it was never enough after the Astros built their cushion. This wasn't a pitchers' duel — it was a track meet, and Houston simply outhit New York when it mattered most.

The brutal truth? We leaned too hard on starting pitching metrics in a game that turned into a slugfest. Home field advantage means nothing when your starter can't keep the ball in the yard. The Astros' 2-3 last-five record? Irrelevant when they show up swinging for the fences. Sometimes the numbers lie, and tonight they lied spectacularly. Chalk it up as a miss and move on — that's baseball.
