Astros Offense Goes Silent as Giants Cruise, OVER 8.0 Bricks Hard

MLB

Well, that Carson Whisenhunt pitching mismatch we banked on? Turns out the Giants starter had other plans. San Francisco cruised to a 4-1 victory at Oracle Park, and our OVER 8.0 never stood a chance in what became a pitcher's duel nobody saw coming.

The math looked bulletproof on paper: Whisenhunt's bloated 7.25 ERA screaming for runs, Hunter Brown's respectable 3.53 setting up a lopsided slugfest. We projected nearly ten runs after park adjustments. Instead, we got five total tallies and a whole lot of uncomfortable silence from Houston's lineup. The Astros managed just one measly run against a guy whose ERA suggested he'd be serving up batting practice fastballs all afternoon.

Credit where it's due—Whisenhunt and the Giants staff locked it down when it mattered. But this one stings because the handicap was textbook sound. Sometimes baseball just decides to flip the script, and a 7.25 ERA pitcher morphs into Greg Maddux for a day. Oracle Park's pitcher-friendly reputation showed up right on cue, swallowing any offensive fireworks we anticipated.

The OVER crashed five runs short of the number. Brutal miss, no sugarcoating it. Houston's bats stayed home, and we're left holding a losing ticket on what looked like easy money.
