Athletics Stumble Again as Reds Escape with Walk-Off 3-2 Win

MLB

The Reds squeaked past the Athletics 3-2 in a nail-biter that came down to the final frame, extending Oakland's misery to seven straight losses. Our Reds -137 pick cashed, barely, but let's be honest—this one tested every nerve in The Stable.

Rhett Lowder wasn't exactly dealing for Cincinnati, but he didn't have to be. The A's offense remains utterly lifeless, managing just two runs against a pitcher sporting a 5.42 ERA. Jacob Lopez matched Lowder's mediocrity pitch-for-pitch, keeping Oakland within striking distance despite his 5.79 ERA suggesting he had no business doing so. Both starters lived down to expectations, turning this into the kind of sloppy, low-scoring affair that makes you question your life choices.

The difference? The Reds found a way to manufacture three runs at home, likely scratching across the winner late while Oakland's bats continued their extended vacation. When you're riding a seven-game skid and can't push across more than two against below-average pitching, you're not winning anything.

We called the pitching edge and leaned on Cincinnati's superior recent form. The pick hit because Oakland remains a dumpster fire, plain and simple. Ugly win, but a win's a win—and that's all that shows up in the ledger.
