Bengals Defense Strangles Houston, DarkHorse Cashes Easy +2.5

NFL

The Bengals didn't just cover the +2.5—they dominated a Texans squad that looked every bit as toothless as we predicted. Cincinnati rolled 20-6 in Houston, turning this one into a defensive clinic that was never really in doubt. Joe Burrow did exactly what backup Davis Mills couldn't: move the football when it mattered. Houston's offense, already crippled without Nico Collins, managed a measly six points and spent most of the afternoon punting or staring at third-and-long.

Cincinnati's firepower advantage was the story. Burrow spread it around to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins while the Bengals' defense feasted on Mills, who had no answers and zero help from a patchwork receiving corps. The line movement we flagged—sharp money driving it from -3.0 to -2.5—was a neon sign, and the sharps nailed it. Houston's Week 1 defensive disaster (36 points allowed) carried over; they couldn't generate pressure or possessions.

This wasn't a nail-biter. The Bengals controlled tempo, won the trenches, and made Mills look like exactly what he is: a backup thrust into a nightmare spot. DarkHorse called the mismatch, the market agreed, and we cashed with room to spare. Sometimes it really is that simple.
