Blue Jays Cash Behind Cease's Dominance, DarkHorse Nails the Fade

MLB

The Blue Jays took care of business at home, riding Dylan Cease's arm to a 3-1 victory over the Cardinals and delivering a clean winner for DarkHorse backers at -172. This one played out exactly as the model projected: elite pitching trumps struggling offense, fatigue matters, and sometimes the sharp side is also the right side.

Cease was every bit the ace the numbers promised, carving through a Cardinals lineup that's been anemic lately. St. Louis managed just one run against Toronto's staff, continuing their offensive malaise that had them averaging under three runs per game coming in. The back-to-back scheduling didn't help—tired legs, long travel, and facing a pitcher with a sub-2.50 ERA is a recipe for quiet bats.

Kyle Leahy held his own well enough to keep it close, but the gap between a good pitcher and a great one showed up where it counts: on the scoreboard. Toronto's offense didn't need fireworks, just enough to back their horse, and they delivered three runs that might as well have been ten given Cease's stuff.

The pick hit because the handicap was sound—pitching edge, situational fatigue, and modest line value all converged. Sometimes you don't need chaos to win. You just need the better starter and the worse team on fumes.
