So much for pitching edges and recent form dominance. The Blue Jays waltzed into Progressive Field and hung six runs on Cleveland in a 6-3 win that made our Guardians ML pick look foolish. Toronto's offense—supposedly the weaker side of this matchup—did exactly what they failed to do in the season opener: show up.

We leaned hard on Tanner Bibee's superiority over José Soriano and Cleveland's stingy 3.0 runs allowed per game over their last ten. Bibee got lit up instead, and Soriano? He was good enough. The Blue Jays' lineup, featuring Kirk and Bateman's solid OPS numbers, finally translated those individual metrics into actual run production. Cleveland managed just three runs despite that vaunted home offense that had been averaging 5.6 per game.

Sometimes baseball doesn't care about your spreadsheets. The Guardians came in 8-2 in their last ten and riding high after throttling Toronto 6-1 two days prior. None of it mattered. The Blue Jays needed a bounce-back road performance—they got it. We needed Cleveland to protect home turf and justify that pitching advantage—they didn't.
