Blue Jays Silence Houston Bats in Crisp 3-1 Road Victory

MLB

The Blue Jays walked into Minute Maid Park and did what good teams do on the road—pitched, played clean defense, and manufactured just enough offense to escape with a 3-1 win over the Astros. Houston's lineup, typically a buzzsaw at home, looked more like a dull butter knife against Toronto's pitching staff, managing just one run in what became a surprisingly quiet afternoon for the home crowd.

Toronto didn't need fireworks to get the job done. Three runs proved more than sufficient as their starter carved through Houston's order with efficiency, and the bullpen slammed the door when it mattered. The Astros threatened here and there but couldn't string together the timely hit that's been their trademark. One run on their own turf? That's leaving money on the table.

Credit the Blue Jays for executing a road game blueprint to perfection—limit mistakes, win the pitching matchup, and make the other guys beat themselves. Houston didn't oblige. The Astros will need to shake this one off quickly because getting shut down like that at home stings, especially when you're supposed to be the big bad wolf of the division. Toronto takes the series opener and all the momentum heading into game two.
