Blue Jays Steal One in Houston, Cease Delivers as Advertised

MLB

The Blue Jays walked into Minute Maid Park and did exactly what we said they would — win outright behind Dylan Cease's brilliance. Final score: 5-4 Toronto, and our +1.5 cashes with room to spare.

Cease was every bit the ace we projected, carving through Houston's lineup and justifying that microscopic 2.41 ERA. Meanwhile, Hunter Brown? He gave up just enough for the Jays to build a cushion, proving once again that a 1.01 ERA gap between starters isn't some abstract number — it's the difference between cashing tickets and watching your bankroll evaporate.

Toronto's offense did the heavy lifting early, staking Cease to a lead he protected with surgical precision. Houston clawed back late to make it interesting at 5-4, but never seriously threatened to flip the script. The Astros were overvalued at -172, plain and simple. The market got suckered by the home jersey and the brand name, ignoring the glaring pitching mismatch staring them in the face.

This wasn't luck. This was reading the room while everyone else was asleep. Cease dominated, the Jays covered, and we move on to the next one. Sometimes the math just works, and tonight it worked beautifully.
