Blues Faceplant in Nashville as Hofer's Edge Evaporates in 5-2 Drubbing
So much for goaltending edges and offensive firepower. The Blues limped into Bridgestone Arena and got thoroughly dismantled 5-2, making our Blues ML pick (-115) look foolish in the process. Joel Hofer's supposed .906 save percentage advantage? Irrelevant when Nashville's offense—yes, that anemic 2.57 goals-per-game unit we faded—suddenly remembered how to finish. The Predators buried five past Hofer while Juuse Saros, the netminder we questioned at .904 and 2.95 GAA, stood tall when it mattered and laughed at St. Louis's vaunted 3.57 GPG attack.
Nashville's 1-4 freefall? Consider it over. Their three-game skid ended emphatically on home ice, where they controlled tempo and capitalized on Blues mistakes all night. St. Louis managed just two goals against a goalie we pegged as the weak link, while their own crease—the foundation of our entire thesis—crumbled under pressure.
The road disadvantage we acknowledged turned out to be the entire story. Sometimes the numbers lie, sometimes teams in freefall find religion at home, and sometimes your sharp goaltending read gets torched for five. Nashville wasn't interested in our projections. They wanted two points, grabbed them decisively, and left us holding an expensive lesson in variance.
