Braves Bash Phillies 12-2, DarkHorse Eats Crow on Luzardo Fade
The Phillies got absolutely smoked in Atlanta, dropping a 12-2 laugher that made our -101 backing look foolish from the jump. So much for Jesús Luzardo's "meaningful edge" — turns out citing a pitcher who doesn't even suit up for Philadelphia is a hell of a way to miss a pick. That's right, Luzardo pitches for the Marlins, not the Phillies, and whoever actually took the hill for Philly got shelled early while the Braves offense did whatever it wanted.
Tyler Mahle and the Atlanta staff cruised, making Harper and Schwarber's supposed firepower look like sparklers in a rainstorm. The Braves plated twelve, the Phillies managed two, and that "superior 6-2 road record" meant absolutely nothing when you can't keep the ball in the yard or string together competitive at-bats. The market moved toward Atlanta for good reason — they were the better team, full stop.
We leaned on faulty pitcher data and paid for it. The Braves didn't just win, they curb-stomped a Phillies squad that looked overmatched in every phase. Sometimes the contrarian value play is just a bad bet. This was one of those nights. Tip your cap to Atlanta and move on.
