Braves Blank Mets 4-0, Pitching Dominance Buries the Over

MLB

So much for hot bats and depleted bullpens. The Braves shut out the Mets 4-0 at Truist Park, turning our OVER 8.5 into a smoking crater. We banked on offensive firepower—Mets averaging 5.53 runs per game, Braves at 4.27—and expected both bullpens to crack under the weight of injuries and back-to-back workload. Instead, Atlanta's pitching staff decided to cosplay as the 1968 Cardinals.

The Braves did just enough offensively to make it comfortable, plating four runs while their arms suffocated every Mets rally before it started. New York's lineup, supposedly swinging hot sticks, managed a collective goose egg. Whether it was starter dominance or the bullpens somehow holding together despite missing half their depth chart, the result was the same: a low-scoring snoozefest that fell five full runs short of the total.

Credit where it's due—Atlanta's pitching depth showed up when it mattered. But this one stings. The logic was sound: wounded bullpens, hot offenses, neutral park, yesterday's 13-run slugfest. Baseball just decided to zig when we zagged. The over never had a pulse, and we're left holding the bag on a 4-0 shutout that had no business happening given the context. Tough beat.
