Braves Fall Flat at Wrigley as Cubs Roll to 7-3 Victory

MLB

The Cubs made themselves comfortable at Wrigley this afternoon, dispatching the Braves 7-3 in a game that never felt particularly close. Chicago jumped on Atlanta early and never looked back, controlling the tempo from the first pitch and leaving the Braves scrambling to find any offensive rhythm worth mentioning.

Atlanta's bats went ice cold when it mattered most, managing just three runs against a Cubs pitching staff that had no interest in making this competitive. Meanwhile, Chicago's lineup did the heavy lifting, piling on seven runs with the kind of confidence that comes from knowing your opponent showed up half-asleep. The Braves' pitching couldn't contain the damage, surrendering runs in bunches and watching their bullpen get shelled in the process.

This wasn't a nail-biter. This was the Cubs imposing their will on a Braves squad that looked outmatched from the jump. Atlanta heads home licking their wounds after getting thoroughly outplayed in every phase of the game.

DarkHorse didn't publish a pick here, which in hindsight looks like a smart bit of restraint. Sometimes the sharpest move is knowing when to stay off the board entirely. The Braves faithful will want to forget this one quickly.
