Braves Squeak Past Reds 3-2, But Sale Can't Cover the Run Line

Chris Sale was every bit the ace DarkHorse promised—dominant stuff, minimal traffic—but the Braves' anemic offense couldn't give him the cushion he needed to bury Cincinnati. Atlanta eked out a 3-2 win at Truist Park, just enough to take the series but not nearly enough to cover the -1.5 chalk that had casual bettors salivating over Sale's sub-2.20 ERA.

Our Reds +1.5 at -115? Cashed comfortably. Cincinnati's lineup did exactly what we projected: stayed scrappy, kept it tight, and leaned on just enough pop from Elly De La Cruz and company to hang within a run deep into the game. Andrew Abbott wasn't sharp—4.70 ERA guys rarely are—but he also didn't implode, and that's all the dog needed. The Braves managed three runs against a middling arm and called it a night, continuing their frustrating trend of winning games without truly dominating them.
