Game Recap
Brewers Bludgeon Mets 8-2 in Lopsided Affair at Citi Field
The Brewers rolled into Queens and absolutely dismantled the Mets, cruising to an 8-2 victory that was never really in doubt. Milwaukee's offense came alive in a big way, piling on runs while New York's bats went ice cold when it mattered most.
This one had the feel of a mismatch from the jump. The Brewers jumped ahead early and never looked back, building a cushion that let their pitching staff work with confidence all night. Meanwhile, the Mets managed just two runs -- a pathetic output for a team playing at home that desperately needed to string together some momentum.
Milwaukee's lineup did damage up and down the order, turning this into a laugher by the middle innings. The Mets' pitching couldn't find the zone when it counted, and their defense offered no help. By the time New York finally scratched across their second run, the game was already decided.
The Brewers are proving they can travel and take care of business against quality competition, while the Mets continue to sputter at the worst possible time. Eight runs on the road is a statement, and Milwaukee made it loud and clear. DarkHorse didn't publish a pick here, but this result speaks for itself -- the Crew came to play, and the Mets simply didn't show up.
