Brewers Cruise Past Rockies, Cover the Spread in Convincing Fashion

MLB

The Brewers didn't just beat the Rockies on Wednesday night—they dominated them, cruising to an 8-5 victory that left our Rockies +1.5 pick in the dust. Milwaukee's three-run cushion made sure the run line never came into question, a painful reminder that sometimes the favorite just handles business.

Our logic was sound on paper: a modest starter ERA gap, both bullpens running on fumes, and historical trends suggesting Colorado could hang tough within two runs. The problem? Milwaukee simply executed better when it mattered. The Brewers built separation early and never let the Rockies creep close enough to threaten the spread, turning what we hoped would be a competitive slugfest into a comfortable win.

Colorado managed five runs—not terrible for a road team at American Family Field—but the Brewers answered every rally attempt with timely hitting of their own. The taxed bullpens we counted on to keep things tight? Milwaukee's held just enough, while Colorado's leaked runs at precisely the wrong moments.

Sometimes you read the matchup correctly and still get burned by execution. The Brewers were the better team tonight, plain and simple. They covered, we missed, and there's no sugarcoating a three-run loss when you needed two or fewer. On to the next one.
