Brewers Drop Tight One at Wrigley Despite Henderson's Strong Outing

MLB

The Cubs squeaked past Milwaukee 2-1 at Wrigley Field, handing DarkHorse bettors a frustrating loss on Brewers ML. Logan Henderson delivered exactly what we projected—an elite performance that kept Milwaukee in the game—but the Crew's bats went ice-cold when it mattered, squandering a legitimate pitching advantage.

Henderson lived up to his stellar 2.48 ERA and 10.14 K/9, holding Chicago's lineup in check and giving his offense every chance to capitalize. The problem? Milwaukee managed just one measly run against Kevin Gausman, who entered with a bloated 4.38 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. That's supposed to be a hittable arm, folks. Instead, the Brewers made him look like vintage Cy Young, failing to exploit the exact mismatch we identified.

The Cubs scratched across two runs—just enough—and their bullpen slammed the door. Milwaukee's vaunted pitching depth (3.47 team ERA, .221 opponent BA) couldn't overcome offensive futility. Their 10-5 form over the last fifteen games meant nothing in a one-run nail-biter where timely hitting was the difference.

Bottom line: Henderson did his job. The bats didn't. Sometimes the right side loses, and this one stings because the pitching edge was real. Wrigley giveth, Wrigley taketh away.
