Brewers Edge Past Pirates 5-4, Henderson Justifies the Faith

MLB

The Brewers squeaked out a 5-4 road win in Pittsburgh, and Logan Henderson delivered exactly what we needed him to — though he didn't make it easy. Our -140 play cashed, banking on that massive 1.76 ERA gap between Henderson and Jared Jones, and while the final margin was closer than Milwaukee's 9.8 runs per game over their last five would suggest, a win is a win when you're laying juice on the road.

Henderson's elite peripherals showed up when it mattered, keeping the Pirates' bats just quiet enough despite Pittsburgh's home-field push. Jones, as expected, couldn't match that level — his 4.10 ERA and shaky 1.17 WHIP left too many cracks for Milwaukee's hot offense to exploit. The Brewers' 7-3 form in their last ten wasn't a mirage; they found a way to manufacture five runs even while playing back-to-back road games.

Sure, we would've loved more cushion given the offensive firepower this lineup's been flashing, but road divisional games are rarely blowouts. The 58.3% implied win probability we bought into was always going to produce some nail-biters. Henderson gave us the pitching edge, Milwaukee's bats did enough, and we move to 1-0. That's how you turn analysis into profit.
