Brewers Get Bludgeoned in Cincinnati as Reds Erupt for 12

MLB

Well, that was ugly. The Reds torched Milwaukee 12-8 at Great American Ball Park, turning our Brewers -165 pick into expensive confetti. So much for that "significant pitching edge."

Here's the problem: we backed Milwaukee banking on superior arms and a 7-2 season dominance over Cincinnati. Instead, the Brewers' staff got shelled for 12 runs while the offense — despite posting 8 themselves — couldn't keep pace. That 1.38 ERA advantage we loved in the preview? Didn't show up when the lights came on. Cincinnati's bats stayed hot after yesterday's win, and Milwaukee had no answer.

Credit where it's due: the Reds didn't just win, they dominated. Twelve runs is a statement, especially against a team that supposedly owned you all year. The Brewers' offensive edge we cited (.256 vs .229 team BA) meant nothing when your pitching hands out runs like Halloween candy.

This one stings because the logic was sound — better pitcher, better team stats, proven head-to-head success. But baseball doesn't care about your spreadsheet when the other guys decide to go nuclear at the plate. Milwaukee got run out of the building, and we got run over with them. Chalk it up, move on, and hope the Crew remembers how to pitch next time out.
