Brewers Own October, But the Dodgers Loom Large in Your Playoff Bets
The regular season is wrapped, and Milwaukee sits atop the heap at 103-59 with a plus-1.3 net rating that screams legitimacy. They're not just winning—they're mashing at a 5.1 offensive clip while keeping opponents to 3.8 runs per game. That's elite on both sides of the ball. The Crew earned every bit of that top seed, and if you're laying October money, they're the rightful favorite.
But don't sleep on the Dodgers at 100-62. Their net rating of plus-1.2 is a razor's edge behind Milwaukee, and frankly, LA's 4.9 offensive output paired with a 3.7 defensive mark makes them the most balanced contender in the field. This isn't a fluke—they're built for a deep run, and the gap between them and Milwaukee is thinner than the standings suggest.
Tampa at 98-64 looks solid on paper, but that plus-0.5 net rating and 4.0 runs allowed per game tells you they're more smoke than fire compared to the top two. They'll make noise, but betting them to outlast Milwaukee or LA is a sucker's play.
The Yankees and Braves hover in that dangerous 93-94 win range, and both have the run differential to back it up. New York's plus-0.9 net with a stingy 3.7 defense makes them live underdogs. Atlanta's offense hums at 4.6 per game—they can hang with anyone in a short series.
Further down, the Cubs at 89-73 are the league's most overrated playoff hopeful. That 5.2 offensive rating looks shiny until you notice they're giving up 4.3 runs a night. They'll score, sure, but they'll bleed just as fast. Fade them early and often.
Milwaukee and LA are the class of this postseason. Everyone else is fighting for third place.
