Brewers Pitching Edge Evaporates in 3-2 Petco Heartbreaker

MLB

Well, that stings. The Brewers fell 3-2 at Petco Park, and our Logan Henderson worship session turned into a funeral. We hammered this one hard—Henderson's 2.70 ERA and Casey Mize's apocalyptic 21.60 ERA seemed like free money at -108. Eighteen-point-ninety ERA gap, we said. Largest possible differential, we said. Turns out baseball doesn't always read the scouting report.

The final score tells you everything: Milwaukee managed just two runs despite facing a guy who'd been serving up meatballs like a San Diego taqueria. Meanwhile, Henderson—our supposed ace in the hole—couldn't deliver the shutdown performance we needed. The Padres scratched across three, just enough to send us packing with an L on the ledger.

Credit where it's due: San Diego's 7-2 home form wasn't just noise, and Petco played spoiler again. But let's be honest—when you're backing a starter with Henderson's credentials against someone sporting a 21.60 ERA, you expect run support and dominance. We got neither. Milwaukee's vaunted pitching advantage (3.47 team ERA versus San Diego's 4.16) meant squat when the bats went silent.

Sometimes the biggest edges on paper dissolve in the California sun. This one hurts, Stable. On to the next.
