Brewers Squeak Past Padres 4-3, Henderson Delivers as Promised
The Brewers took care of business at home with a 4-3 nail-biter over San Diego, and our ML play at -150 cashes exactly as drawn up. Logan Henderson was every bit the elite arm we sold you on—his 2.47 ERA and swing-and-miss stuff kept that top-heavy Padres lineup in check when it mattered most. Milwaukee's offense did just enough against Michael King, who pitched well but couldn't quite match Henderson's dominance in the clutch moments.
This one came down to execution in a tight spot, and the Brewers—riding that 5-0 last-five surge and eight days of bullpen rest—had the fresher stable down the stretch. San Diego's road woes continued to haunt them; we flagged that 4.57 runs-per-game away split for a reason, and sure enough they left runs on the table when opportunities arose. The middle of their order stayed soft, just as expected.
Was it pretty? No. Did it require holding your breath in the ninth? Probably. But Henderson gave Milwaukee exactly the kind of start that wins one-run games, and the home crowd got to watch their squad improve to 6-0 in the last six. Sometimes you don't need fireworks—you just need the better pitcher and the better situation. We had both. Hit, cashed, moving on.
