Game Recap
Broncos Cover in LA as Chargers' Injury Woes Continue to Bite
The Broncos walked into SoFi and did exactly what the injury report said they would, grinding out a 23-17 road win that covered the -3.5 spread with room to spare. DarkHorse nailed this one, and frankly, it wasn't hard to see coming when you're facing a Chargers squad held together by athletic tape and prayer.
Denver's offense didn't need fireworks—just competence against a secondary missing Derwin James Jr. and Donte Jackson. Bo Nix managed the game efficiently, and the run game chewed clock when it mattered. The Chargers' decimated offensive line couldn't generate push, and their offense sputtered to just 17 points, right in line with their season-long struggles averaging under 17 PPG. When your trenches are that banged up, it doesn't matter who's calling plays.
LA kept it closer than their talent level deserved thanks to a few defensive stands, but they never threatened late. The six-point margin was comfortable, and the cover was never in doubt after halftime. This was textbook situational handicapping—Denver had every advantage on paper, and they cashed it on the field. The Chargers are 0-5 now, and until those injury reports start looking less like a MASH unit roster, expect more of the same.
