Browns Escape Nashville in Shootout Nobody Saw Coming
Well, this one didn't go according to script. The Browns edged the Titans 27-24 in a game that had no business being this entertaining, blowing past DarkHorse's under 37.0 with a combined 51 points that felt like a middle finger to every offensive metric we'd studied.
Cleveland's road offense, supposedly capped at 15.0 PPG, suddenly remembered how to move the ball when it mattered. The Browns put up 27 against a Tennessee defense that had been stingy enough to justify confidence in the under. Meanwhile, the Titans—averaging a pathetic 11.0 PPG at home—somehow scraped together 24 points, their best home showing in weeks.
The final three-point margin suggests drama, and there was plenty. Both teams traded scores in a back-and-forth affair that made the 37.0 total look quaint by halftime. Cleveland's defense, typically reliable at 20.33 PPG allowed, couldn't quite slam the door when Tennessee needed stops.
Credit where it's due: both offenses showed up when the data screamed they wouldn't. Sometimes the worst units pick the worst possible time to have their best day. The under never had a chance, missing by a full two touchdowns. Frustrating? Absolutely. But that's why they play the damn games.
