Bucks Edge Pacers 128-127 in Preseason Shootout That Torches the Under
So much for rest-day offense cratering. The Bucks squeaked past the Pacers 128-127 in a preseason finale that turned into an unexpected track meet, blowing past the 233.5 total and leaving DarkHorse's under pick in the dust at 255 combined points.
The logic was sound on paper—both squads sitting key rotation pieces, deep benches full of camp bodies, offensive execution supposed to nosedive. Instead, we got a wide-open affair where neither defense bothered showing up. Milwaukee's backups played with zero regard for shot selection, the Pacers matched that chaos possession for possession, and suddenly 128-127 felt inevitable by the fourth quarter.
Credit where it's due: the Bucks found a way to win by a single point despite the defensive void, but this game had no business sniffing 255 points given the personnel absences. Camp guys shot like they had nothing to lose—because they didn't—and the refs let everything flow. Preseason variance is real, but this was variance on steroids.
The pick missed badly, no sugarcoating it. When you bank on diminished execution and get a summer league free-for-all instead, that's the risk. Milwaukee gets a meaningless W. DarkHorse takes the L. On to the regular season, where rotations actually matter.
