Bucs Ground Jets 24-16 in Tampa Bay Road Victory

NFL

The Buccaneers did what playoff-hopeful teams do on the road: they controlled the game when it mattered and sent the Jets home disappointed, 24-16. Tampa Bay never trailed after establishing early momentum, and while New York made it interesting down the stretch, the Jets simply couldn't manufacture enough offense to complete the comeback.

Tampa's defense deserves the game ball here. They bent but rarely broke, forcing the Jets into frustrating field position all afternoon and making life miserable for New York's passing attack when it counted. The Bucs' ground game chewed clock in the second half, keeping Aaron Rodgers and company on the sideline during critical possessions.

The Jets showed flashes—16 points suggests they moved the ball in spurts—but this offense continues to sputter when games tighten up. Whether it's execution, playcalling, or both, New York can't seem to finish drives with touchdowns instead of field goals. That's the difference between 9-7 and 6-10.

Tampa improves their postseason positioning with a workmanlike road win. Nothing flashy, nothing complicated—just better football when the game was on the line. The Jets? Another frustrating Sunday in a season full of them. DarkHorse stayed off this one, probably the smart play given how ugly AFC East football has been lately.
