These three pass the eye test and the spreadsheet test.

Meanwhile, Montreal and Seattle share identical 2-0 records but tell a troubling tale underneath. The Canadiens sit at minus-0.1 net rating despite their perfect start, while Seattle is even worse at minus-1.1. They're winning, sure, but they're getting outplayed doing it. Regression is coming for both.

The real value plays? Look at the winless squads with positive underlying numbers. Washington, Utah, Carolina, and Buffalo all sit at 0-0 or 0-1 despite sporting positive net ratings or elite defensive metrics.
