Cardinals Cash In as McGreevy Delivers the Goods at Busch

MLB

The Cardinals took care of business at Busch Stadium, rolling past the Rockies 7-4 in a game that played out exactly as the pitching matchup suggested it would. Michael McGreevy justified every bit of that massive 3.35 ERA advantage we highlighted, holding Colorado's bats in check while his offense did the heavy lifting. The Cardinals' lineup may have been hitting just .239 coming in, but they found enough gaps to plate seven runs against Michael Lorenzen and the Rockies' bullpen.

Our Cardinals -158 pick? That's a clean HIT, folks. When you've got a three-and-a-half run ERA gap between starters, you ride it—and St. Louis made sure we didn't sweat this one too much. The market tried to tell us the Rockies' superior team batting average (.256) would keep this competitive, and Colorado did push across four runs, but fundamentally sound pitching beats hot bats on the road more often than not.

McGreevy's performance was the backbone here, giving the Cardinals exactly what they needed to control the game from the first pitch. The home crowd got their money's worth, and so did anyone who trusted the starting pitcher differential. Sometimes handicapping is this simple: elite starter advantage plus home field equals cash in the bank.
