Cardinals Escape Coors With One-Run Win, Cash Our Ticket at -135

MLB

The Cardinals did exactly what we needed them to do Thursday night, grinding out a 7-6 win at Coors Field and banking our -135 play. This one wasn't pretty—nothing ever is in that launching pad—but when you fade Ryan Feltner, you don't need art, you just need runs.

Feltner delivered on cue, coughing up crooked numbers early and keeping St. Louis in the driver's seat. Andre Pallante wasn't sharp either because, well, Coors Field, but he gave the Cardinals enough length to protect a lead they built against Colorado's overmatched starter. That 2.27 ERA gap we highlighted? It showed up when it mattered most.

The Rockies made it interesting late—they always do at home—clawing back to within one and putting some pressure on the Cardinals' bullpen. But St. Louis held serve down the stretch, surviving the altitude-fueled chaos to secure the W. Back-to-backs and Coors Field are legitimate concerns, but when your starter has a sub-4.00 ERA and the other guy is pushing six, you ride the edge. We did, and it paid off. Cardinals move on, DarkHorse cashes another winner, and Feltner remains exactly what his numbers say he is: unplayable.
