Cardinals Storm Chavez Ravine, Hand Dodgers Rare Home Loss 8-6

MLB

The Cardinals flew into Los Angeles and promptly reminded everyone that Dodger Stadium isn't quite the fortress it used to be, taking down the Boys in Blue 8-6 in a slugfest that had more twists than a pretzel factory.

St. Louis came out swinging, staking an early claim with aggressive baserunning and timely hitting that kept LA's pitching staff on its heels all night. The Redbirds built enough cushion to withstand the inevitable Dodgers comeback attempt, and when LA finally mounted their rally, it was too little, too late. Credit the Cardinals' bullpen for holding serve down the stretch—not always a given with this squad.

The Dodgers offense showed flashes, scratching across six runs, but their pitching couldn't contain a Cardinals lineup that clearly didn't get the memo about being intimidated by the palm trees and celebrity sightings. Every time LA threatened to claw back, St. Louis had an answer.

DarkHorse didn't touch this one with a published pick, which in retrospect might've been the smart play given how chaotic the scoring got. But if you caught Cardinals money, you're sleeping well tonight. Sometimes the road dog just has more bite than expected, and the Cardinals proved exactly that in Chavez Ravine.
