Celtics Demolish Shorthanded Sixers 144-106 in Preseason Laugher
So much for rotation management and camp bodies grinding out a low-scoring slog. The Celtics absolutely torched the Sixers 144-106 in a preseason beatdown that sent our under 222.5 total up in flames—final tally hit 250, missing by nearly four touchdowns.
Boston's "day-to-day rest designations" apparently meant rest for about one quarter before the reserves decided to put on a three-point clinic. The Celtics shot the lights out from distance and in transition, turning what should've been a sleepy tune-up into a track meet. Philadelphia's depleted roster offered zero resistance, getting boat-raced on both ends as Boston's depth pieces played like they had regular-season contracts to win.
The original logic wasn't crazy—preseason games with limited starter minutes usually stay under inflated totals. But this one broke every trend. Whether it was Boston's shooters getting hot in extended run or Philly's defense completely checking out, the scoreboard looked more like a Big 12 football game than an NBA preseason contest.
Credit where it's due: Boston's bench mob came to play. For us? A brutal miss on a total that never had a chance once the Celtics found their rhythm. Sometimes the camp bodies surprise you—just not the way you hoped.
