Clippers Torch Nets in Preseason Shootout as DarkHorse Under Gets Buried
So much for preseason restraint. The Clippers torched the Nuggets 122-110 in a game that absolutely demolished our under 225.5, sailing past the number by a cool six and a half points. We banked on typical exhibition caution—shortened rotations, camp bodies clogging lanes, stars coasting through their requisite minutes before hitting the showers. Instead, both squads apparently missed the memo about taking it easy.
The 232-point explosion makes you wonder if someone accidentally piped regular-season intensity into the arena's HVAC system. Los Angeles found offensive rhythm despite the injury absences we flagged, while Denver's firepower showed up ready to actually compete rather than sleepwalk through October. Whether it was younger guys auditioning too hard, coaching staffs actually game-planning, or just one of those nights where everything falls, this one played nothing like the grind-it-out preseason slog we anticipated.
The Clippers controlled throughout, building enough cushion that garbage time couldn't save our number. Preseason trends are real until they aren't, and tonight they absolutely weren't. Sometimes the book gets shredded in real time. Chalk this miss up to both teams forgetting it's supposed to be meaningless basketball. On to the next card.
