Cossa Carries Mammoth to Road Win, DarkHorse Cashes +1.5 with Room to Spare
The Mammoth rolled into New Jersey and did exactly what Sebastian Cossa has been doing all season—making the Devils look ordinary. Final score 5-3, and frankly it wasn't that close. DarkHorse's Mammoth +1.5 pick hit with authority, banking on Cossa's brick-wall goaltending (.944 SV% coming in) and the Devils' anemic offense that had managed just 1.5 goals per game through two contests.
New Jersey tried. Jake Allen wasn't bad, but when you're facing a Mammoth squad averaging four goals a night and riding this kind of momentum, "not bad" doesn't cut it. The visitors jumped ahead early, never trailed, and even when the Devils clawed back to make it interesting late, Cossa slammed the door when it mattered. That's three straight games he's kept opponents under two goals—until garbage time made this one look closer than it was.
The market knew something, pricing Mammoth +1.5 at 66.4% no-vig probability despite the road disadvantage. Turns out the "upset" was the chalk all along. Devils are now 1-2, their offensive woes painfully real, while Mammoth improve to 3-1 and look like the early-season darling nobody wants to face. DarkHorse called it: form beats location, elite goaltending beats struggling offenses, and +1.5 was basically free money.
