Cubs Fall Short in Milwaukee, Brewers Edge Thriller 4-3

MLB

The Brewers squeezed past the Cubs 4-3 at American Family Field in a contest that came down to the wire. Milwaukee managed to hold on despite Chicago making things uncomfortable down the stretch.

This was the kind of divisional scrap that keeps you glued to your seat—tight scoreline, neither team willing to blink, and ultimately decided by whoever executed when it mattered most. The Brewers found a way to plate four runs and made them stand up, while the Cubs couldn't quite muster that one extra clutch hit to flip the script.

Credit to Milwaukee's pitching staff for locking things down when the game hung in the balance. The Cubs showed fight—three runs against a solid Brewers squad is nothing to sneeze at—but in a one-run game, "almost" doesn't cut it. That's baseball in April, May, June, or September: you either cash in your opportunities or you watch the other dugout celebrate.

DarkHorse didn't weigh in on this one, so no pick to dissect. Just two Central Division rivals grinding it out, with the Brewers emerging one run better. The Cubs will lick their wounds and look to even the score next time these two lock horns.
