Dodgers Cash as Favorites, Sasaki Does Just Enough in Queens

MLB

The Dodgers took care of business at Citi Field, grinding out a 4-2 win that validated our -148 ticket and reminded everyone why you fade depleted lineups. Los Angeles didn't blow the doors off, but they didn't need to—not against a Mets squad missing half their thunder.

Roki Sasaki wasn't dominant, but he gave the Dodgers exactly what they needed: enough length to keep the bullpen fresh and enough strikes to avoid self-inflicted damage. Sean Manaea, as advertised, couldn't match even that modest standard. The Dodgers' offense—boasting that .260 team average and superior OPS we highlighted—manufactured just enough against a Mets pitching staff that's been leaking runs at home. Four runs doesn't sound like a parade, but it was plenty against a lineup that entered this one looking like a Triple-A depth chart.

The pick hit because the math held. We projected true win probability around 62-63 percent against an implied 59.7, and that edge cashed cleanly. Home field means nothing when you're trotting out a skeleton crew, and the Mets' recent home form (2-4, 5.67 runs allowed) telegraphed exactly this kind of result. Dodgers move on, we move on, and the Stable stays fed.
