Dodgers Escape Coors Field Chaos With One-Run Squeaker Over Rockies

MLB

The Dodgers survived the thin-air madness at Coors Field on Tuesday night, edging the Rockies 7-6 in a game that had all the defensive discipline of a beer-league softball tournament. Los Angeles came into Denver knowing the altitude would turn routine fly balls into adventure, and sure enough, this one played out like a track meet with gloves occasionally involved.

The Dodgers built enough cushion early to withstand Colorado's inevitable late push—because that's what happens when you play baseball at 5,280 feet. Every mistake gets amplified, every mistake gets punished, and both bullpens spent the final innings white-knuckling their way through traffic. LA's offense did just enough damage to stay ahead, manufacturing seven runs through a combination of timely hitting and Colorado's generous defense.

The Rockies clawed back to within one, making it uncomfortably close down the stretch, but ultimately fell short of completing the comeback. Coors Field giveth, and Coors Field almost taketh away. The Dodgers will gladly pocket this win and get out of town before the baseball gods change their minds. Final tally: Dodgers 7, Rockies 6. Ugly? Absolutely. Counts the same in the standings? You bet.
