Eagles Cover in Jacksonville Heartbreaker Despite Late Collapse
The Eagles walked into TIAA Bank Field as eight-point dogs and nearly walked out with an outright win — until they didn't. Philadelphia led for most of the afternoon before Jacksonville squeezed out a 19-17 nail-biter, but for DarkHorse backers, the sweat ended in celebration: Eagles +8 cashed comfortably.
This was exactly the kind of inflated number we flagged. The market panicked over Saquon Barkley and DeVonta Smith sitting, ballooning the line from -4.5 to -8 despite Jalen Hurts suiting up healthy. Turns out a franchise quarterback matters more than the public thinks. Hurts kept Philadelphia competitive all game, and the Jaguars' offense — averaging a pedestrian 26 points per game — had no business being laid more than a touchdown at home.
Jacksonville eked out the win but never pulled away. The final margin was two points, meaning we covered by six full points of cushion. That 3.5-point line move reeked of overreaction, and the tape proved it. When sharp money doesn't follow public hysteria, there's usually blood in the water.
The Eagles lost the game but won us the bet. Sometimes that's all that matters. Ride the value, not the narrative — and definitely don't chase inflated home favorites who can't score.
