FC Dallas Steals a Point in Wild 3-3 Draw at St. Louis

MLS

So much for home dominance. St. Louis CITY SC squandered a golden opportunity to bank three points at home, settling for a chaotic 3-3 draw with FC Dallas on Saturday night. Our pick? St. Louis to win. Result? A frustrating push that feels more like a loss given the underlying narrative.

The math looked bulletproof: St. Louis boasting a 7-0-3 run in their last ten, fortress-like at home (5-1-1), facing a Dallas side limping in on a loss streak and missing key pieces in goal and midfield. The xG models loved St. Louis's creative firepower against Dallas's leaky defense. What we got instead was a track meet with six goals and zero ability to close.

Dallas, somehow, found three goals despite their injury chaos and woeful form. Credit where it's due—they showed up when nobody expected them to. But St. Louis's failure to capitalize at home, where they'd been averaging two goals per game and suffocating opponents, is the real story. You can't give up three at home to a team that was supposed to be running on fumes.

The draw keeps both sides spinning their wheels in the Western Conference scrum. For our money, St. Louis left two points—and our confidence—on the pitch.
