Flyers Stun Avalanche 3-2, DarkHorse Eats Chalk in Philadelphia
Well, that's what happens when you pay -225 for damaged goods. The Avalanche limped into Philadelphia as heavy favorites and promptly face-planted 3-2, handing us another missed moneyline call and proving once again that NHL chalk tastes like cardboard soaked in regret.
Colorado's supposedly elite 4.5 goals-per-game offense? Vanished. They managed just two tallies against Dan Vladar, the same goaltender we torched for his .889 save percentage and 3.58 GAA. Turns out catastrophic goaltending looks a lot better when the opposition forgets how to finish. The Avalanche generated their usual volume but couldn't solve a netminder who had no business stealing this game.
Philadelphia's 1-9 record suggested they were prime roadkill. Instead, the Flyers found three goals against Colorado's suddenly porous defense and held on for the upset. This wasn't a goaltending masterclass—it was the Avalanche tripping over their own skates while laying massive chalk.
Our 47.1% moneyline win rate just got uglier. The fundamentals screamed Colorado, the price made us queasy, and we should've trusted our gut. Sometimes the favorite is a favorite for a reason. Other times, they're overpriced trash laying an egg in South Philly. Tonight was the latter. Fade the chalk, folks—or at least fade us.
