Giants Bats Erupt for 10, Send Cardinals and DarkHorse Pick Packing

MLB

So much for that Andre Pallante ERA advantage. The Giants torched St. Louis 10-3 at Busch Stadium, turning our Cardinals -170 pick into expensive confetti and extending San Francisco's supposed "four-game skid" narrative into ancient history. Pallante's 1.37 ERA edge over Blade Tidwell? Meaningless when your offense decides to sleepwalk through nine innings and your starter gets shelled. The Giants offense, which we noted was bleeding 5.75 runs per game on the road, flipped the script entirely and put up a 10-spot against a Cardinals squad that had been stingy at home. St. Louis managed just three runs despite their cozy 2.83 home runs-against average coming in, looking nothing like the team riding a three-game win streak. Tidwell wasn't spectacular, but he didn't need to be—his bats did the talking. The Cardinals' form momentum evaporated the moment first pitch was thrown. Sometimes the numbers lie, sometimes the matchup on paper means nothing, and sometimes you just get boat-raced at home as a heavy favorite. This was all three. The Giants made us look silly, the Cardinals sleepwalked, and -170 never felt more expensive. Tip your cap and move on.
