Guardians Cruise Past Padres 6-1 in Comfortable Home Victory

MLB

The Cleveland Guardians made short work of the visiting Padres on Tuesday night, cruising to a 6-1 victory that was never really in doubt. San Diego limped into Progressive Field and left looking even worse, managing just a single run against Cleveland's pitching staff while their own hurlers got shelled for six.

This one had all the drama of a spring training exhibition. The Guardians built their cushion early and spent the rest of the evening playing keep-away, while the Padres' bats went ice cold when it mattered. Cleveland's offense didn't need fireworks—just steady, professional at-bats that kept the pressure on and eventually broke through for a half-dozen runs.

For San Diego, this was the kind of flat performance that gets managers tossing clipboards in the tunnel. One measly run isn't going to cut it against anybody, let alone a Guardians squad that's been scrappy at home all season. The Padres' pitching couldn't stop the bleeding, and their lineup looked lost trying to mount any sort of comeback.

DarkHorse stayed off this one entirely, and honestly? Smart move. Sometimes the sharpest play is no play at all. Cleveland takes care of business, San Diego heads back to the drawing board, and we move on to tomorrow's card.
