Guardians Fade at Home as Twins Snatch 3-1 Victory

MLB

The Guardians couldn't capitalize on home cooking, falling 3-1 to the Twins in a pitching duel that exposed Cleveland's offensive limitations when it mattered most. DarkHorse's Guardians -138 pick crashes and burns, another reminder that ERA differentials mean squat when your bats go silent.

The original handicap leaned heavily on Gavin Williams' supposed edge and Cleveland's stout team ERA of 3.74 versus Minnesota's bloated 4.77 mark. Sure, the Guardians' pitching showed up—holding the Twins to three runs isn't a disaster—but this offense produced exactly one run of support. That's not a recipe for covering any moneyline, let alone laying -138 juice.

Minnesota's road woes (4-5 coming in, allowing 5.78 runs per) were supposed to be the death knell here. Instead, the Twins flipped the script, getting just enough offense to back their starter and escape Progressive Field with the win. Whether Taj Bradley was ever actually starting or not became irrelevant; whoever took the ball for Minnesota did enough to make Cleveland's lineup look lost.

Bottom line: pitching matchups don't cash tickets when your offense forgets to show up. The Guardians had every structural advantage on paper and still got blanked where it counts—the scoreboard. Tough miss, but that's baseball.
