Hurricanes Limp Into Nashville, Get Steamrolled 4-1 by Hungry Predators
The Hurricanes rolled into Bridgestone Arena and promptly forgot how to play hockey, getting thoroughly dismantled 4-1 by a Predators squad that looked like they had something to prove. Nashville controlled this one from the opening puck drop, and Carolina never had an answer.
The Preds built their lead methodically, capitalizing on Carolina's uncharacteristic sloppiness in all three zones. While the Hurricanes managed to avoid the shutout with a lone tally, it was nothing more than window dressing on what was otherwise a dominant Nashville performance. The home side's defensive structure suffocated Carolina's typically dangerous transition game, and their goaltender looked dialed in all night, turning aside everything except that single blemish.
This wasn't a case of bad bounces or tough luck for the Canes—they were simply outworked and outplayed. Nashville's forecheck was relentless, their neutral zone coverage airtight, and they made Carolina look pedestrian in their own building. For a Hurricanes team that prides itself on speed and pressure, getting stonewalled like this is a tough pill to swallow.
The Predators needed this one, and they took it convincingly. Carolina heads home with plenty to think about after getting their doors blown off in Music City.
