Islanders Survive Ducks Scare, Sorokin Delivers as DarkHorse Cashes -150
The Islanders squeaked past Anaheim 3-2 at UBS Arena, and while it wasn't pretty, DarkHorse's -150 play hit exactly as scripted. Ilya Sorokin was the difference-maker once again, doing what elite goalies do when the margins are razor-thin. The Ducks pushed back harder than their three-game skid suggested they would, but ultimately couldn't solve Sorokin enough times to steal one on Long Island.
New York's 3-1 home record stays intact, though they made it sweat more than expected against a back-to-back opponent. The Islanders got the two-goal cushion they needed, then leaned on their netminder down the stretch. Sorokin's .940 save percentage through six starts wasn't a fluke—he bailed out defensive lapses and kept Anaheim's late push at bay. Meanwhile, Lukas Dostal's struggles (.882 SV%, 3.17 GAA) continued; two goals allowed sounds respectable until you realize the Ducks needed three to win and couldn't manufacture them against a rested Islanders squad.
DarkHorse nailed the goaltending gap as the decisive factor. The 58-point save percentage chasm was real, the situational edge was real, and -150 was absolutely the right side. Not every winner is a blowout—sometimes you just need your goalie to be better than theirs. Sorokin was. Cash it.
