Jaguars Demolish Colts 42-7, Bury DarkHorse's Divisional Theory
Well, that was ugly. Jacksonville didn't just beat Indianapolis—they humiliated them 42-7 in a game that made our +10 Colts pick look foolish from the opening whistle. So much for divisional rivalry keeping things tight.
The Jaguars torched the Colts' defense for 42 points, obliterating the 25.67 PPG average we cited and proving that sometimes a favorite is favored for a reason. Meanwhile, Indianapolis managed just seven points—a far cry from the "competent passing attack" and Jonathan Taylor-led ground game we counted on to keep this competitive. Daniel Jones and company were completely overwhelmed, never threatening to make this a contest.
Our reasoning hinged on divisional games playing tighter and the spread being inflated by public money. Turns out the public was right and we were wrong. That two-and-a-half-point line move toward Jacksonville? It was justified. The Jaguars came out firing and never let up, covering the 10-point spread by halftime and coasting from there.
Credit where it's due: Jacksonville looked like a legitimate contender while the Colts looked outclassed in every phase. Sometimes the sharp play is just taking the better team, and we missed badly trying to get cute with situational angles. On to the next one.
