Jets Squander Road Value in Tight 2-1 Loss to Blues
The Jets couldn't cash our +118 ticket at Enterprise Center, falling 2-1 in a defensive slog that came down to the margins we warned about. St. Louis eked out the win despite Winnipeg controlling stretches of play, and Joel Hofer did just enough between the pipes to validate his side of the goaltending wash we projected.
This one unfolded exactly as advertised: two evenly matched clubs, no goalie advantage, decided by a bounce or two. The Blues potted a pair and locked it down from there, leaning on home ice and just enough finish to make the Jets' road metrics look hollow. Winnipeg managed only one goal — nowhere near the 3.0-per-game pace they'd shown away from home — and couldn't solve a St. Louis defense that tightened up when it mattered.
Our reasoning was sound: the price was right, the matchup was even, and the Jets had shown better road form than the Blues had at home. But in a coin-flip game with small samples, the coin landed wrong. Hofer and Skinner both played to form, the defenses mostly held serve, and St. Louis simply found one more goal. That's hockey at -120 true odds — sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats your plus-money ticket. Light stake, clean miss, move on.
