Jokic and Murray Torch Phoenix, DarkHorse Rides Easy Winner in the Desert
The Nuggets rolled into Phoenix and did exactly what DarkHorse predicted: imposed their will on a Suns squad still figuring out how to defend anybody. Denver cruised 127-120, cashing the moneyline at -155 with room to spare and validating every word of the original thesis.
Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray were surgical, carving up a Phoenix defense that surrendered 127 points and looked every bit as porous as the 123.67 PPG they've been bleeding all season. The Joker orchestrated the offense with his usual triple-double threat brilliance, while Murray got downhill at will against overmatched Suns guards. Denver's two-way balance—the exact edge we highlighted—showed up in crunch time when Phoenix couldn't get consecutive stops.
The Suns hung around longer than they deserved, thanks to some home-cooking threes, but their 0-2 road woes were never a mirage. They can't guard elite pick-and-roll actions, and Denver ran that play until Phoenix begged for mercy. Even without Cameron Johnson, the Nuggets had more than enough firepower to cover the number.
DarkHorse nailed this one: superior talent, better defense, rested legs. Sometimes it really is that simple. Fade Phoenix's defense at your own profit.
