LAFC and Vancouver Serve Up a Snoozefest, Over Bettors Left Hungry

MLS

Well, that was painful. LAFC and Vancouver sleepwalked to a 1-1 draw that had all the offensive fireworks of a wet matchstick, leaving over 3.0 bettors staring at their tickets in disbelief. Two goals. Two. From teams that were supposed to light up the scoreboard like it was the Fourth of July.

The math was simple and seductive: Vancouver averaging nearly three goals per game at BC Place, LAFC rolling in hot off a four-game winning streak with 2.6 goals per contest. Neither defense particularly stingy all season. The total had even dropped from 3.5 to 3.0, practically begging us to smash the over button. Instead, we got a tactical stalemate that wouldn't have covered under 2.5.

Credit where it's due—both defenses showed up when their offenses took the night off. But when you've got Vancouver's elite home scoring prowess meeting LAFC's red-hot attack, one goal apiece is borderline criminal. The Whitecaps' 6-1 home record suggested they'd do damage. LAFC's win streak promised goals. Neither delivered when it mattered.

Sometimes the numbers lie. Sometimes both teams forget they're supposed to be good at scoring. Tonight was both. Over bettors, pour one out—this one stung.
